먼저 Palestrina에 대해서 간단하게 소개합니다.
 

팔레스트리나는 로마에서 가까운 '팔레스트리나'라는 마을에서 1525년에 태어납니다.
항상 그의 본명보다는 그가 태어난 마을 이름으로 불리어집니다.
1594년 2월2일 68세의 일기로 로마에서 생애를 마칠 때까지 104개의 미사곡, 400개 이상의
모테트와 많은 봉헌송(Offiertorium), 마니피캇, 찬미가 그리고, 140여 개의 세속 또는
종교적인 내용의 마드리갈등 수많은 작품을 남겼습니다.
평생을 로마에서 가톨릭과 관련을 맺으며 살았고, 따라서 그의 음악에서도
그레고리오 성가처럼 로마 가톨릭 교회의 분위기가 자연스럽게 나타나고 있습니다.
그의 시신은 그가 일하던 로마의 성 베드로 성당에 묻혀 있는데,
그의 무덤 묘비명에는 '음악의 왕'이라고 새겨져 있습니다.
